The second transnational meeting of the URBANFLOODS project was successfully held on April 8th and 9th, 2025, at the RiHub venue in Rijeka, organized by the Rijeka Development Agency Porin.
The two-day event brought together partners from across the Adriatic-Ionian region to collaborate on pressing issues related to climate change adaptation, data management systems, and experiences from local pilot areas.
During the sessions, all project partners presented their national regulations and local actions focused on flood prevention and building resilience. These exchanges offered valuable insights into regional approaches and laid the groundwork for stronger cross-border cooperation.
The University of Western Macedonia (Greece), the project’s lead partner, provided an overview of the project’s current status, including progress updates and financial management.
Partners from North Macedonia, Croatia, Greece, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Serbia, and Slovenia made significant contributions, highlighting the importance of joint action in strengthening regional cooperation and advancing sustainable development goals.
On the second day, the spotlight was on Rijeka’s pilot area, the Rječina River. Associated partner JU Priroda presented the rich biodiversity of the river and its ecological significance. The event continued with a “Walk & Talk” field visit, offering participants the opportunity to tour the Zvir spring and observe firsthand the challenges and opportunities within the local environment.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment among all partners to continue fostering knowledge sharing, joint action, and timely implementation of project activities, contributing to the enhanced climate resilience of the region.
